Only Brittany’s are eligible. Points may be earned in the following events:
  • American Kennel Club licensed shows, field trials, hunt tests, obedience trials and agility tests occurring in the Western region as defined by the American Brittany Club.
    • Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, Alaska & Hawaii
  • American Brittany Club licensed events occurring in the Western region.
    • American Brittany Club National Events:
      • All Age, Amateur All Age, Gun Dog, Amateur Gun Dog, Specialty and Obedience Trial, Summer Specialty and Obedience trial.
  • American Field trials
    • Within the ABC Western Region (NASTRA trials are NOT included.)
  • California Brittany Club (CBC) designated events
    • Willi Match and Club Championship trial.
The highest point total in each category determines the winner.  Competitive and Special Recognition Awards are based on dogs defeated for both show and field. The performance category is based on scores and times.
  • The dog must be owned or co-owned by a member of the CBC when scores are earned and awards are presented. Members who joined by April 30th may include scores earned for the full calendar year.
  • The point accrual period is each calendar year (January 1st to December 31st).
  • It is the dog owner’s responsibility to compile and timely submit a CBC Awards Score Sheet to the club’s designate. The CBC secretary is the official statistician.
Any dog earning a title during the year will be recognized at the Awards Banquet.

Deadline for submissions will be the 15th of March for the prior year accomplishments.

This system of awards is effective with points earned during the previous calendar year.
Example: Points are earned from Jan 2015 through Dec 2015. Points are submitted no later than 15 March 2016. Awards are presented at Annual Awards Banquet 2016.

*A photo is to be submitted at time of submission
*All submissions will include the dog's AKC registration number for validation research.

MAJOR COMPETITIVE AWARDS

Show Dog

Award points are based on dogs defeated and earned placing Reserve Winners or better. Futurity Show wins are counted in the same manner as regular show wins, 2nd money winner or better.
See an example in the Resources section below.

Field Dog

Award points are based on dogs defeated in All Age or Gun Dog Stakes, and the combination thereof for the dog that competes in both of these stakes.

Dual Dog

The Dual Dog is required to compete and place in both the Field and the Show. To be eligible the dog must have earned a Brittany Major at an AKC licensed field trial during the dogs’ field career, OR been awarded a first place in an AKC licensed trial with at least 13 starters during the award period (January 1st to December 31st).  At least one-third of the points must be earned in adult field stakes, one-third in the show ring, and the remaining one-third may be comprised of adult field or show wins or a combination of both. Bonus points in the Dual Category: A finished Field Champion (FC, AFC, or American Field) competing in conformation may add the greater of 5 dog defeated points (in the Dual Category only) for each show it was shown in OR the actual number of dogs defeated for those instances where more than 5 dogs were defeated.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARDS

Field

There will be three field awards: All Age, Gun Dog and Juvenile Dog (to include both Puppy and Derby placements). These events will be calculated as follows: 30-minute stakes – 1st through 4th place – Number of dogs defeated. (10 dog stake, 1st place defeated 9 dogs, 2nd place defeated 8 dogs, etc.) Hour stakes – 1st through 4th place – Number of dogs defeated times 2 (10 dog stake, 1st place defeated 9 dogs times 2 = 18 points, 2nd place dog defeated 8 dogs times 2 = 16 points.)

Juvenile Show Dog

Based on dogs defeated in the same manner as the Major Show Dog Award criteria.  In addition, the dog shall be under two years in age when points are earned.

Juvenile Dual Dog

The Juvenile Dual Dog is required to compete and place in both the field and show.  The dog shall be under two years in age when points are earned with at least one-third of the points earned in puppy and derby or adult field stakes, one-third in the show ring, and the remaining one-third comprised of field or show wins or a combination thereof.

Junior Handler

There will be Junior Handler awards in both the field and show. The Show Junior points will be tabulated based on the number of handlers defeated in Junior Showmanship events. The Field Junior will be based on points earned by the dog(s) handled, with a 5 point bonus added for each separate event in which they participated. Dual Junior Handler will be determined the same way Dual Dog is determined.

Amateur Handled Dog

There will be Amateur awards in both the field and show.  The Field award will go to the dog that earns the most points while being handled by an amateur in adult field events. The Show award will go to the dog that earns the most points while being handled by an amateur.

Obedience

The Obedience winner will be determined by taking the average of the three highest scores for the year. The dog with the highest average will be the winner. In case of a tie, the highest individual score will be the winner.

Rally/Agility

The Rally/Agility winner will be determined by adding all qualifying scores and the number of seconds under standard time for those qualifying scores.

Hunt Test

The Hunt Test winner will be determined by the cumulative points awarded by earning a minimum of two qualifying scores, with the points as indicated below.  Once a dog has attained an Advance Title and been awarded the Hunt Test winner said dog is no longer eligible at that specific hunt test level.  For example, a Senior Hunter Advance Title and CBC Hunt Test winner can continue to accumulate points for qualifying scores at the higher Master Hunter level.
  • Senior Hunter earns 7 points for each qualifying score.
  • Master Hunter earns 10 points for each qualifying score.

Special Awards

When deemed appropriate, a dog or person may receive an award for a particularly exceptional accomplishment. This will be decided by a vote of the Board of Directors. Recommendations for a Special Award should be submitted to the President.
