So What Are Field Trials?
Field Trials are competitive events to test a dog’s ability to work game. Pointing dog clubs host trials that cover various ages and levels of experience as well as accommodating both professional and amateur handlers. There is something for everybody.
In general, dogs are judged on bold and attractive style of running, stamina, ability to locate and point game, style on point and manners on birds --- puppies are not required to have bird contact.
Based on the results of the competition, points may be awarded toward an AKC title of Field Champion, Amateur Field Champion, Grand Field Champion and Grand Amateur Field Champion.
